Homefinder and localpad

Assisting in preventing homelessness

In 2013, all 8 of the councils based in Leicestershire decided to join together, forming a hub and operating under the title of Leicestershire Housing Hub. The hub had the objective of devising a cost effective way of providing innovative, user-friendly housing solutions; with a view to ultimately preventing homelessness across the county.

Recognising the benefits of using appropriate software, and aware of our extensive experience in the public sector market, the hub appointed localpad as a key service provider.  Working in partnership with the hub, a customised solution was developed in Homefinder.uk.com. Since launching, the service has experienced huge success:

Over 3,000 properties have been advertised
Increased engagement with over 200 landlords and letting agents
500 properties advertised within a week
3,500 unique visitors per month
Average customer spends eight minutes at a time on the site

Homefinder.uk.com also provides a range of advice and help services for residents seeking accommodation or at risk of homelessness. Here’s what Rebecca Holcroft from Blaby District Council says about Homefinder.uk.com:

“We have not had to increase our temporary accommodation budget over the last 3 years, in fact last year we only used just over half (and) we did over 60 lets through Homefinder to homeless families”

In recognition of this success, Homefinder.uk.com was awarded CIH East Midlands and West Midlands 2015 Winner, as well as being recognised as a Public Sector Finalist at the Landlord and Letting Awards 2015.
